Oh good, rain (Picture: REX/Shutterstock)
Put your sunglasses away everyone, because the weather is
about to get really terrible.
Despite last month being the warmest May on record, June is
looking a bit chillier – and a lot wetter.
The vast majority of the country woke up to torrential
showers this morning, particularly in the north, Cornwall, Wales, and most of
Scotland.
And the weather only gets worse as the day goes on – with
the Met Office putting out ‘yellow’ weather warnings for rain.
Met Office forecaster Grahame Madge confirmed to Metro.co.uk
that from today, the weather would be ‘very unsettled’.

‘Today and early tomorrow we have a yellow warning out for
rain, which extends from South Wales all the way up to the north west of
England,’ he said.
‘Many parts of the country will see 40mm to 60mm of rain,
but it’s even possible that there could be 80mm of rain in high ground areas
like the Welsh mountains and Lake District.’
Grahame added that, on top of the warnings, a weather system
would be moving across Britain, bringing miserable weather to the entire
country – except for Scotland.
‘Scotland, by contrast, is going to be much drier and will
probably have some sunshine,’ he said. ‘But they will see strong winds. The
weather system will be moving across the UK on Tuesday, bringing rain and
strong winds with it.’

‘Up until midday on Wednesday, most of the UK will be dry,’
Grahame continued. ‘But later on, there will be more rain.’
